Macerated Field Blend

Macerated Field Blend

Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Summerland, British Columbia, Canada

Dew is drying on fuzzy wild sage, roasting sun beams cook Lake Okanagan into a tepid bathtub & the nesting marmots watch you sip straight from the barrel – a regular scene for anyone visiting this marvellous Summerland winery. Partners Keenan Thrussell and ZoĂ« Jacoe are two of the most driven, generous & talented farmers + winemakers in BC’s blooming natural wine scene. Working out of Keenan’s organic family winery (of which he has been the head winemaker since 2013), the core of this project is a love of experimentation and minimal intervention, always purchasing (the slowly disappearing) pristine organic fruit from local farmers & doing as little as possible to them. A sapid blend of pinot noir (60%) intricacy, acidic-saviour chardonnay (30%) & herbaceous pinot gris (10%). 10 days of whole cluster maceration allows them to bottle this colour and hold onto it like a rare piece of beach glass, and seven months on lees fortifies the fist crushed berry mouthfeel. Herbaceous tickles, pomegranate syrup, flowering thyme, sandcastle minerality, rose hip mash, huckleberries & the comfort of someone you love and trust driving as you drift off under your sunglasses. A Canadian producer to WATCH. Drink in an inflatable boat, searching for the Ogopogo!
