Taras Ochota liked to describe his wines as “all elbows and knees sticking out” which perfectly describes this clown car stuffed with a whopping six different grapes – Grenache, Gewürzt, Gamay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Syrah. The grapes were destemmed, cold-soaked and partially co-fermented, followed by a few months in tank before blending and bottling without fining or filtration. Like a rave in the woods, every grape brings something different to the party – dirty wildberry fruit, blackcurrant gummy, damson plum, red liquorice, book-pressed rose, white pepper, cigar box & a whiff of peat with long, supple tannins and a meaty underbelly. And like any good partygoer, chill, don’t ask questions and just drink the moment in, it’ll last longer.
