‘Ruina' 2019

‘Ruina' 2019

Syrah, Murcia, Spain

A raw & regal red from one of Spain’s most erudite & reclusive winemakers! Erik Rosdahl and his son Hal make tiny amounts of wine out of a half-ruined house in Yecla, one of Spain’s smallest wine regions in the southeast. Rosdahl insists harvesting every grape himself, working without machinery or electricity & never employing chemicals or sulphur at any point – an incredibly hands-on approach with a deft, inspired touch. From a nearby, now-uprooted plot, this is the only vintage from those vines – an elegantly floral expression of Syrah farmed at 850-1050m above sea level. Dark & pungent, blackberries from the bottom of the barrel, dried currants, black pepper & florals straight from the Garden of Earthly Delights with a briney lick at the end. Never to be seen again, cherish with carpaccio by candlelight.
