‘Luli’ 500mL

‘Luli’ 500mL

Piemonte, Italy

A white version of ‘Barolo Chinato’, full of generous florals, warming spices and historic bark bitters. GWI’s first aperitif and digestif producer is here, buongiorno Chianti Vergano! Tomasso and Pietro Vergano are second-generation makers, creating small batches of balanced and unique elixirs out of a teeny facility in the backstreets of Asti, Piemonte. FUN FACT! Vergano is the only operation making a white Chinato (which in it’s original form is known as Piemonte’s most famous digestif) based in moscato d’Asti! From the producer, “It is a product with which we want to return to the origins of the production of Chinato wines”, utilizing moscato from nearby wineries Ezio Cerutti and Bera. The dominant ingredient in ‘Luli’ is bark from cinchona trees (an evergreen South American tree with fragrant flowers that is a source of quinine and other medicinal alkaloids), balanced by citrus, vanilla, coriander, cloves and cinnamon present to warm up our tongues. Enjoy straight alongside 3-year + aged cheeses, rhubarb pies, & chocolate hazelnut spreads, or as an aperitif with ice and seltzer. #viniaromatizzatiFOREVER
