2020 Barbaresco 'Roncagliette'

An ideally poised and powerful expression of why the world loves nebbiolo. Olek Bondonio has gone from high-ranking snowboarder in his youth, to one of the brightest stars in Barbaresco, perfectly at home on the steep slopes that surround the family’s 200+ year old cantina. This cuvée is made from grapes grown in Olek’s front yard (now that’s better than a silly old lawn!), a small parcel planted by his family fifty years ago in one of Barbaresco’s most famous crus, Roncagliette— holding a reputation for its POWERFUL & infinitely age worthy nebbiolo expressions. Grown in firm clay-limestone soils that lend a juicy-fruit power and mineral finesse, the nebbiolo is macerated on the skins for two months to pull layering bricks of aromatics and structure, before a couple of years developing intricacies. Sparking with so much energy, maybe you could start your car, warm tornado of florals, swedish fish, blood orange ring pop, wintergreen meets petrichor & a fortress-like structure.
